Lightweight Carbon Fibre Construction.

The BMW i8 Concept is the most lightweight car for maximum dynamics and efficiency.

With its innovative LifeDrive concept BMW i has taken lightweight design, vehicle architecture and crash safety into an utterly new dimension. The passenger cell (Life module) made of carbon fibres makes this car stronger and lighter than any other car made of steel or aluminum. The Drive modules - made primarily from aluminium - houses the power train, the battery and the electric engine. The LifeDrive architecture keeps the car's centre of gravity as low as possible – and therefore maximises the car's dynamic performance. As well as the space-saving and well-balanced packaging of this gives this breathtaking two-seater an ideal 50:50 weight distribution.
